Another grand project in Limassol is closer to its implementation, after the signing of the contract for the elaboration of the construction plans.
This is the renovation of the historic Heroes’ Square which, as stated by the mayor of Limassol l Nikos Nikolaidis, was one of the first priorities and announcements of the current municipal council that had announced the architectural competition.
The aim of the municipality, he added, with the renovation of the Square, which was the main object of the competition, is to highlight the importance of the square through the historical and social data, the architectural and monumental elements that characterize the area and played an important role until today in the development of the city.
In the Square, the mayor emphasizes, it is necessary to give “an image of a Cypriot neighborhood, different from the “international” image given by the areas of Kastro — Marina — Old Port — Paraliakos”.
